100,000 S.F. – Manufacturing & Warehouse Expansion
Green Bay Packaging has been making corrugated packaging and containers since 1933. Their focus is on building a better box, which includes everything from plain brown boxes to high-end graphic point of purchase displays. Due to demand for their quality packaging products, and the explosion of e-commerce – their Coon Rapids location needed to expand to keep pace. They needed manufacturing space to scale their production, warehouse space to provide greater shipping flexibility to their clients, spaces for their creative team to create & demonstrate prototype displays, and spaces to improve their employee experience.
Partnering with Maertens Brenny Construction, Doug Feickert worked with Green Bay Packaging on the planning, design, and phased construction of four separate projects. Construction was completed in 2019 and added just over 100,000 square feet of area to the existing 260,000 square foot facility.
- The first component was an expansion of their finished goods warehouse which allowed them to double their on-site storage capacity. They can now manufacture large quantities for their customers, hold it in inventory, then ship finished goods on an as-needed basis.
- The second piece included nearly 50,000 square feet of manufacturing space to house automated machinery that prints, cuts and folds corrugated materials into packaging.
- The third component was an expanded and remodeled Design Lab, where the creative team develops new packaging and displays, creates prototypes, and meets with clients.
- The final piece was a 6,000 square foot addition for a new break room and 60-person training room to support their growing workforce. The new break room offers employees a light-filled and fully equipped hangout space where office and production staff can relax together.
